Abbas Vaez-Tabasi, Iranian cleric, Died at 80

Ayatollah Abbas Vaez Tabasi was born on June 25, 1935, and died on March 4, 2016.

He was an influential Iranian cleric who holds memberships at different institutions.

Abbas was Grand Imam and Chairman of the Astan Quds Razavi board from 1979 until his death in 2016.

The Iranian hails from a family of Mashhadi origin.

Abbas Vaez-Tabasi started his education when he was only 12 years old in various seminaries.

He was a member of the Expediency Discernment Council and the Assembly of Experts of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

He was also the head of the Astan Quds Razavi.

Abbas Vaez-Tabasi was elected to the Assembly of Experts to the surprise of some observers, in 2006.

Notwithstanding, he retired after declining to run in 2016 election.

His daughter married Supreme Leader Khamenei’s son, Sayyid Hassan.

Abbas Vaez-Tabasi passed away at 80 yrs old.
